Zizeks Concept Of Two Revolutions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4000 words

Zizeks Concept Of Two Revolutions - Essay ExampleZizeks exploit has been criticised for inconsistency and Parker argues that there is no Zizekian system of philosophy because Zizek, with all his inconsistencies, is trying to make us think much harder about what we are willing to imagine and accept from a single writer (Parker, 2004, p.120). Indeed, to this end Zizek argues himself that we should constantly challenge our ideologies and philosophies. This is particularly evident with Zizeks extrapolations pertaining to the concept of the cardinal revolutions as highlighted by his reciprocation in Revolution at the Gates, A Selection of Writings from February to October 1917 (Edited by Zizek, 2002). To this end, it is submitted at the outset that at the heart of Zizeks argument for the necessity of two revolutions is the idea that the first revolution challenges the pre-existing form and the second revolution ensures that the form itself is revolutionised to attain the true purpose of the intended objectives of the revolution in what Zizek footing the utopia. Directly correlated to Zizeks perception of the two revolutions is the use of Lenin as a symbol to highlight the flaws of traditional social theory highlighting diachronic circumstance and context as the significant causal triggers for revolution.

Strategic Purchasing Essay Example for Free

Strategic Purchasing EssaySustainable business growth and practices are taking a forward leap in to the globe. Almost either business now is planning to postulate a value chain through out their business. Strategic Purchasing is the key element to a sustainable growth of the business along the competitive edge. This study shows the importance of the Kraljic portfolio model that is to be put in to the actual usage, which would yield benefits of purchasing sophistication in terms of positioning and professionalism. Results showed that both positioning and professionalism are positively related to the greater usage of the model. Based on the analysis of a Dutch chemical substance company, the immense use of the portfolio model has been described and explored in strategic purchasing. The results have proved that when the model is tailored and elaborated it brings about an effective guidance in purchasing and supplier strategies. The case study also lists out the supplier strategie s that are feasible. Thus it supports the fact by using the kraljic model that purchasing modus operandi does play a vital role and enable organizations to gain competitive advantageThe Initial objective of strategic purchasing to procure materials amp equipments, from the pay off origin, with the right quantity and of the right quality, through right time and cost (peter 1993). Strategic purchasing does play a vital role in an organization. To have a successful business venture purchasing has to be the core element responsible for a products quality, acceptability, price and reliability. Procurement organisation solely depends on the choice of suppliers, to ensure the delivery under any circumstances (John, Marton 2006).In few cases, DSM is locked in the partnering relationship due to necessity, might be cause of situations like monopolistic market. The only solution to this would be finding alternative suppliers through proper new development of suppliers. This solution will no t be obtainable when the scenario is due to patents, another situation would be when the supplier does not want to involve really in co development (Van Weele 2006). on that point is more likely for the partnership to change into the indolent and chances of being more relaxed in the relationship.Strategic partners should always be a supplier of world class. foremost suppliers are high performing, alert at all times and technically sound through sense of economy. This understandably depicts that strategic patterns will meet the bench mark externally with more satisfactory carrying into action of price (Van Weele 2006). Decomplexing strategy and supplier development (2) must be pursed when the situation turns vice versa, that is when the partnerships show under achieving performance or patterns. Less complexity products when made, leads to alternative solutions within reach.Effectively, DSM wants itself always to be less dependent on non dependable and under achieving suppliers (V an Weele 2006). Importance of kraljic portfolio model is clearly understood when it is actually put into use and customizing of the same would enhance the solving capability of the strategic issues that are at hand. The portfolio model provides guidelines for a better supplier and purchasing strategies. This case study clearly suggests us the importance of placing commodities at different quadrants of the matrix to help in development of the purchasing strategies (Van Weele 2006).

Milk plays a major role in a healthy, balanced f ar throughout lifetime. Milk having Proteins, Vitamins, carbohydrates and other minerals.Caseins, lactalbumins, and lactoglobulins are some proteins in milk. Milk from domesticated ruminants, primarily cow, sheep, goat, camel and buffalo, are major sources of dietary calcium and, in countries where commercially available milk is fortified, of dietary vitamin D (Clemens et al., 2014).Casein is a sort of protein found in dairy items, for example, milk, yogurt, chocolate, ice-cream and foods. Casein protein, whether it originates from sustenance or from a supplement, could be a valuable addition to diet with a few benefits. Casin helps to digest food fast ,it can take 7h to digest (Samuels, 2014)Milk holds 3.3% total protein. Milk proteins hold each of the 9 essencial amino acids needed by humans. Milk proteins are blended in the mammary organ, however 60% of the amino acids used to manufacture the proteins are from the cows eating diet. (Milkfacts.info, 2014)The total protein part of milk is made out of various particular proteins. The essential gathering of milk protein is casein. the typical caseins are different atoms but are comparable in structure. All different proteins are found in milk. (Walter and Hurley, 2014)Caseins got proper amino acid institution that is critical for development and improvement of the nursing youngs. (Walter and Hurley, 2014)A protein is an unbranched polymer in which the monomer units are amino acids. All the more particularly a protein is a peptide slight than 50 amino acids are available. Proteins arranged into two fibrous and globular.fibrous proteins are proteins which peptide chains ar e organized in long strands or sheets. Globular proteins willing be proteins that have a tendency to overlap again on themselves into compact spheroidal shaped. Globular proteins dont form inter molecular between protein units and are all the more effectively solubalized in water . Because that they hold all the amino acids key for building blood and tissue, and can manage life and principle growth . Impact And Cultural Dimensions Of Globalisation

Impact And Cultural Dimensions Of GlobalisationThere are both winners and losers associated with globalization, however what exactly is globalisation and how can it be outlined? Daniels et al. Defines the term globalisation as follows A contested term relating to the transformation of spatial relations that involves a change in the relationship surrounded by space, parsimoniousness and society.1There are a few key dimensions connected to globalisation, these are economical, political, social, cultural and environmental. This paper will argue that there are nigh positives linked to globalisation, however many pack are cool it worse off and suffer as a result of this phenomenon. There are some world-wide winners as a result of globalisation the highly skilled and educated, large firms, global markets, men, or any people with assets. Then there are the losers of globalisation the workers, women and children, local communities, the untutored, people without skills, the environme nt and small firms. For globalisation to work inequality must be decreased in order to close the gap between the rich and poor countries.Transnational and Multinational Corporations are those corporations which have headquarters in a certain arena (mainly in a global city) and travel in some(prenominal) other countries around the world. They have been the central players in the evolution of globalisation since the Second World War. These have quelld to become some of the most powerful economic and political entities in the world today. The corporations can influence globalisation greatly and bring wealth to developed countries. Many of the big Transnational Corporations (TNCs) have a higher turnover than the majority of the worlds countries. For mannikin, the combined revenues of General Motors and Ford alone, the two largest automobile corporations in the world, exceed the combined tax income Domestic Product (GDP) for all of sub-Saharan Africa.2Economic globalisation refers to increasing economic interdependence of national economies across the world through a quick increase in cross border movement of goods, service, technology and capital.3Capitalism drives globalisation in this present era and will continue to do so with the markets opening up and becoming neo-liberal. Whilst economic globalisation has been occurring over several thousands of years, newly it has expanded rapidly with the increasing improvements in technology, transportation and free trade. This recent growth has occurred mainly because of developed countries integrating with less developed countries, by means of foreign direct investment (FDI), the reduction of trade barriers and the modernisation of these development cultures. Countries involved in trade liberalisation benefit from an increase in supporting standards, increased incomes, and higher rates of economic growth. For economies to grow, TNCs need to generate shekels and expand globally. They achieve this by moving their production line to less developed countries in order to decrease production costs and increase profit. The winners of this procedure are the major corporations (Nike, Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.) whose products are made at a minimal cost, thus generating increased amounts of profit allowing them to globalise their business and become wealthier.TNCs have been firmly criticised, however they have invested in developing countries and by doing this, have managed to raise the living standards. Despite the western view that sweatshops are unethical, the labourers who work in them are often benefiting greatly. Many economists whose studies are directly related to sweatshops find that after controlling for other factors, multinational firms pay higher wages than domestic firms in Third World countries.4Many citizens in developing countries are unqualified or uneducated, thus making it extremely difficult for them to find employment by being unqualified. Feenstra and Hanson (1997) find that multinational firms improve the lives of workers by increasing the demand for labour.5This indicates that unqualified citizens still have a chance of employment and receiving an above medium income. The apparel industry has drawn most attention in the press for its use of sweatshop labour. Evidently, the apparel wages are low by Western country standards however, these wages compare favourably with the average standard of living within these countries. For example, in Honduras, the site of the famous Kathy Lee Gifford sweatshop scandal, the average apparel worker earns, $13.10 per day, until now 44% of the countrys population lives on less than $2 per day.6Evidently, sweatshops do play a major role in developing countries, however there still are some negatives surrounding them. The negative associations with globalisation cannot be miss. The losers of this process are the workers who work increased hours, earn little income, along with poor living and working standards. Eve n though sweatshops produce a reasonable, above average income for its workers, they usually work in dirty polluted factories which may have a negative effect on the worker and may decrease their life span. For example, Tommy Hilfiger a world renowned brand has set up sweatshops in developing countries, where products are made at a minimal cost and sold in developed countries at a high cost, producing major profits which clear to the specific TNC headquarters, thus the developing countries economy does not benefit greatly. This in turn leads to an increase in inequality between the rich and the poor. As a result of sweatshops, citizens in the developing world may suffer as well. When these major corporations move their production line to reduce costs they leave several thousands of local citizens unemployed, which may lead to them relying on welfare. They may also substitute human races with labour saving technologies which will also increase unemployment levels. This can continue to lead to issues such as a loss of tax revenue which may be detrimental to the home country and halt them from moving forward. An excess loser in this process can be the consumer who purchases these products which can be described as being highly overpriced.Another significant and often overlooked loser from economic globalisation is the environment. Major corporations decreases in environmental integrity as polluting corporations take advantage of weak regulatory rules in developing countries. For example, human systems are depleting resources and degrading the environment at unprecedented rates, such as mining companies clearing land for production causing deforestation and pollution. There are many more examples of environmental degradation such as urbanization of productive land water logging and salinization of soil soil erosion deforestation ground water depletion ozone depletion pollution and climate change to name a few. These are all issues which are currently being seen through media sources. Such as the BP oil spill which has been graded the biggest environmental disaster in the US history, The oil rig, about 40 miles (64km) off the coast of Louisiana, sank two days later, gush an estimated 12,000 to 19,000 barrels of crude oil a day into the Gulf of Mexico.7This appears to be a prime example of environmental degradation. This disaster has continuing effects on the environment and economy such as killing wildlife and habitat, and effecting tourism on this part of the coast. Ms Wickman, owner of the Treasure Trove gift shop that occupies an eighteenth century church, one of Alabamas oldest buildings, estimates that her business has dropped by half since news of the April 20 explosion that destroyed an oil rig under contract with BP.8Due to the interconnection of globalisation when this disaster occurred all the oil prices around the world fluctuated and were unstable at the time. Some countries may suffer from the resource curse. A prime example of the resource curse is Nigeria, a country rich in land, but poor in population. Despite its large earning from oil, 70% of its estimated 140 million people live below the poverty line.9About 95 percent of Nigerias revenue is generated by oil and gas, resulting in billions of dollars in state funds every year, though a lot of the country remains impoverished and underdeveloped this is mainly due to a high level of corruption in its government.10These can lead to much greater issues within developing countries such as an increase in the chances of civil war within developing countries and open war between developing countries as they fight for resources. In conclusion, there are evidently positive impacts which have occurred as a part of the globalisation phenomenon. It has contributed to increased job opportunities for uneducated or unqualified citizens, has increased economic growth for developed countries through transnational and multinational corporations, and increased living standards due to trade liberalisation. Even though there are some negatives associated with globalisation such as increasing the gap between the rich and poor, exploiting labourers, along with having environmental impacts, globalisation has still proceed to have many great benefits on the world. It is unreasonable to predict that globalisation will encourage equality around the world there will constantly be winners and losers, regardless.
